pBefore coming to the topic I want to go into flashback - in the period 2017-18 when I was posted in Srinagar Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, a difficult station in the scheme of postings a period when Jammu and Kashmir was still in turmoil and turbulence due to terrorism not a safe place for government servants particularly as they were the sofest targets. It was the same Doordarshan Kendra whose Director Lassa Kaul was brutally killed by the terrorists on 13 February 1990.brEverywhere else in India we show our central government identity card with pride but in Jammu and Kashmir at that time we used to move in the valley as tourists. There was enigmatic and eerie fear in the air.brWhen I was transferred to Srinagar my condition back home in Delhi was also not good. My octogenarian mother was on the bed and my wife had to go for immediate operation due to her criticalbrcondition stones from the gall bladder coming out and affecting the pancreas a fatal condition. Mostbrimportantly it was in the knowledge of the then administration of Doordrashan. I did not approachbranyone to get my transfer order cancelled. I went to Srinagar and gave my joining and came back to Delhi for two major operations of my wife. And I continued shuttling between Srinagar and Delhi till I was transferred back to Delhi. Thus I kept balance between my two duties at two fronts - duty at office and duty at home or family front as well.p
