The aim of the present investigation is to study the reasons for attrition as expressed by the
IT professionals of IBM and PwC. To carry out the study, a group of 100 IT professionals
50 from IBM and 50 from PwC were selected as subjects in this investigation. Equal
gender ratio was also considered in this investigation. A General Information Schedule,
Perceived Reasons for Attrition Questionnaire and Priority Need Questionnaire were
administered to them by giving proper instruction. Findings revealed that there seems to be
indication of less reasons for attrition as expressed by both group of IT professionals but
comparatively more reasons of attrition were observed among the IT professionals of PwC.
Some factors were highlighted by the professionals of both the organizations regarding the
reasons for attrition. Findings also reveal that the more the duration of service, the more
are the reasons for attrition. Considering the findings of the study, adequate measures may
be taken to reduce the reasons for attrition as far as possible. The priority need as expressed
by both the group of IT professionals may be considered and assessed properly so that they
can do their job with satisfaction.
