Readers And a very happy new year to all of you! As I reminisce about 2013, Gretchen Rubin’s insightful words come to mind: “The days are long, but the years are short.” For really, when you look back as a parent, as a working professional, as a student… you realise that while you have been moaning your way through each day, the years have actually flown by in the blink of an eye! Co-incidentally, this is exactly the line one father I interviewed for the cover story quoted to me. He spoke about how important it is to be involved in every little aspect of your child’s life, else before you know it, the kids are grown up and you have missed their entire childhood in the pursuit of the mundane. You can read about what other involved fathers like him think, and also why it is very important for a father to be hands-on, in our Cover Story ‘How Dad can be More Involved.’ In this issue, we focus on the family as a unit, so from the Cover Story, you can move on to read our Dealing with Differences article ‘The Sibling of a Differently-Abled Child’, our Everyday Parenting tips on ‘Make Eating Out Fun for All’, and some suggestions for your next family vacation in ‘Come Home to a Homestay’ Places to Visit. As is customary, we have articles for all parents — the young parents, ‘Make your Child Self-Reliant’ Young Parents’ Corner, and the older ones, ‘E-Learning for High-School Students’ Career Track and for all of them and everyone else in between, ‘Children and Photography’ Pursuits and Passions and ‘Handling Fussy Eaters’ Nutrition and Wellness. We turn the Spotlight this time around on ‘Body Image’ and also bring you a lot of useful information on the ‘Twice-Exceptional Learner’ Nurturing Gifted Children. With the start of the year, we have introduced a new feature—Multiple Intelligences at Home— a series of eight articles that will show you how to identify what kind of intelligence your child is strong in and how to use this intelligence to enrich his learning across all subjects, with suggested activities and tips to try out at home. Add to this delectable basket our other popular articles, College Education Abroad, Quick Resources, Product Reviews and more, and it promises to be a great start to the year! On a separate note, we are running a lot of fun contests through the year for you and children to participate in with some cool prizes to be won!. So do look out for these contest details within the pages of the magazine as well as on our Facebook page. And finally, here’s to another great and fun year of parenting together!
