Legal research methodology is a structured approach to discovering and applying legal information to resolve legal problems. It involves systematic research, analysis, and interpretation of legal sources to provide a comprehensive understanding of a legal issue. The process includes identifying the legal problem, locating relevant legal materials, analyzing those materials, and synthesizing the findings into a clear and concise conclusion.
Legal research means to search or to find out and examine again about the law. This is the very essence of the process of acquiring new knowledge in field of law. Legal research means scientific and systematic re-examination of existing facts or knowledge to ascertain whether the existing conclusion can be varied or not. The purpose of research is to discover, translate and develop human knowledge to advance the affluence of legal education and research.
