The program is designed for gastroenterologists, hepatologists and physicians with interest in gastroenterology who are involved in day-to-day care of gastrointestinal disorders. The question-answers and the related references would prove helpful for individuals preparing for DM entrance in gastroenterology as well as for practitioners seeking a well rounded clinical update. Efforts were made by all contributors as well as the editors to provide correct answers with reference to various topics covered in the text organ wise. This book is also designed to test the candidates ability to arrive at a reasonable diagnosis from a set of data and is intended to replicate the day-to-day decision making faced by all doctors working in gastroenterology. ABOUT THE EDITOR: The Editor, Dr. Premashis Kar, is the Director, Professor of Medicine and Head of the Gastroenterology Division of the Maulana Azad Medical College and Associated Lok Nayak and G.B. Pant Hospital. He has done his DM Gastroenterology from AIIMS, New Delhi and has been undergraduate and postgraduate teacher, and PhD Supervisor in the University of Delhi. His focus of research interest in Gastroenterology had led him to win various laurels in the field of liver diseases, several orations, academic distinctions and fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, American College of Gastroenterology and National Academy of Medical Science (India). He had been elected President of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (2008-2009) and the Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (2008-2010), due to his dedicated commitment to the specialty, this book is an humble token of his love and dedication for the specialty of Gastroenterology. His Co-Editor, Dr. Hemant Nayak, had done his MD (General Medicine) from the University of Delhi, and had been Dr. Kar’s Senior Resident who worked with him with the focus of specialising in Gastroenterology and had contributed immensely for updating the recent information and explanations to the questions.
