Highlights of India Today Telugu issue dated March 25th, 2014. The issue carried Cover Story ‘Double Trouble for the Congress?' Which discussed about how Congress is under tremendous pressure in Telangana and residuary Andhra Pradesh which go to the polls on April 30 and May 7. After ruling the region for two terms the Congress is trying hard to retain its hold by inducting party leaders from the Backward Classes as the party chiefs and placating the Reddy's - who are the most influential group in the party with other titular posts. The Congress may be able to hold its own in Telangana even in the absence of a pre –poll alliance with the TRS but will be under pressure if the BJP and TDP reach a seat sharing alliance in the region. The Congress faces a near total rout in Andhra Pradesh where it will be locked in triangular and quadrangular fights if the fledgling Jai Samaikya Andhra Party and the proposed Janasena party gather steam. Jairam Ramesh is steering a damage reduction exercise through criticism of rivals by doing the rounds of both regions. Special coverage is on the recently concluded India Today Conclave 2014 which celebrated the idea of how to win India’s future. But, Some of the senior TDP leaders like Dr.K.Shivaprasad Rao and Ch. Ayyannna partrudu (both ex. Ministers) are opposing this ‘desperate’ attitude and criticizing this kind of inflow of leaders into, TDP, saying their party is becoming another Congress party.
