With a Mission to highlight problems and issues of the border area, Leading Journalist and social entrepreneurs Rakesh Nagpal along with his friends took the initiative to start first hindi newspaper of the region. With this aim to be the voice of border area people "society" started Fazilka's first Daily Sarhad Kesri on 02 June 2004 dated with Rakesh Nagpal is his Chief Editor. Sarhad Kesri is not most readable hindi daily of border region of Fazilka and around with daily print circulation 25700 It is first paper and only paper of the region to start its free online edition http://www.sarhadkesari.com/. Profits from paper is shared to run many social programmes like "Kanya Lohri Mela" and to upliftment of education level in border area by honouring "teachers" every year.
