All those who have accomplished great things have had great passion for their work and have put everything into it to turn their dream into a reality. One among them is Ritesh Agarwal of OYO Hotels & Homes, whom we have featured on our cover this issue. A college dropout, Agarwal, who now is just 25, has achieved the incredible feat of turning his start-up into the world’s third-largest network of hotels, accommodation options and managed living and work spaces—in just six years!

Global warming, climate change, sustainable practices—these are some of the burning issues of the day. But way back in the seventies, when Debi Goenka started his career as a volunteer of World Wildlife Fund, these were virtually unknown concepts. The executive trustee of Mumbai-based Conservation Action Trust (CAT), Goenka has many victories to his credit in his unrelenting fight to protect our environment.

Artist Charan Sharma has proven that there may be some truth in the contention that artists are born, not made. Sharma has matured into a talented and much acclaimed artist over the decades. We bring you the latest from the gifted artist, who, after the success of his Buddha trilogy of paintings, is now ready with his next body of works, ‘Aksharaa’, which will be showcased at an upcoming exhibition at Mumbai’s Jehangir Art Gallery, this October.

Having started his career from a rented space, Kolkata-based entrepreneur Srawan Kumar Himatsingka has built a business empire today that boasts a turnover of more than Rs. 1,500 crore, with interests in real estate, logistics, automotive dealership and alloys and minerals. We bring you his inspiring story.

With all this and more, we bring you another interesting issue of MARWAR.

Marwar is a community-based magazine with an emphasis on profiling the best and the brightest in the Marwari community. The magazine reaches the elite in India and abroad who want to read and discover the wonders of all things connected with the community. Thus, the subjects featured have to have the flavour of Marwar and Rajasthan—its culture, lifestyle and traditions. We highlight arts, crafts, music, dance and theatre as well as fashion and food that are connected to the region apart from immensely successful businessmen and businesswomen. In the past, luminaries like Laxmi Mittal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Indu Jain, Sanjiv Goenka and Rajashree Birla, to name a few, have graced our cover.
