Hi friends, This time, I have a list of things to talk to you about. First off, I hope you all have plans to let your teachers know how special they are. Because, of course, it’s Teacher’s Day on 5 September. A day to remember our former President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, after whom the day is celebrated. September is also special to all of us at Tinkle, because 17 September marks Mr. Anant Pai’s birthday. He is the man who founded Tinkle and Amar Chitra Katha. Lovingly called Uncle Pai by millions of children across the country, his legacy lives on nearly 50 years after he first established Amar Chitra Katha. Our founder, our guide, our teacher, Uncle Pai was all this and more to us. Some of us have been fortunate enough to work with him while others, perhaps your parents, may have had the pleasure of meeting him on one of his countrywide tours. A charismatic orator, he was never at a loss for interesting quotes and anecdotes, culled from the thousands of books he’d devoured, gifted as he was with a phenomenal memory. We remember you with a lot of love and affection, Uncle Pai.
