The reduction, which brings the repo rate down from 5.50% to 5.25%, startled sections of the financial markets but underscored the central bank’s conviction that India’s macroeconomic base is strong enough to support a fresh burst of growth momentum. The Monetary Policy Committee voted unanimously for the cut, a rare display of cohesion in a period marked by global volatility. Governor Sanjay Malhotra called it a “considered and calibrated decision” shaped by evolving domestic fundamentals, a rapidly strengthening growth profile, and a sharply softening inflation outlook. The policy stance remains neutral, with the Standing Deposit Facility now at 5% and the Marginal Standing Facility and Bank Rate at 5.50%. The two sides focused on the special economic cooperation programme to reach $100 billion in bilateral trade by 2030. The other area of focus was on working towards an FTA between India and the Eurasian Economic Union and choppy external sentiment—echoes the Centre’s broader policy philosophy: sustain high-quality growth, expand domestic capacity, and steer India toward its goal of becoming the world’s third-largest economy. The case was filed by a married woman who alleged that she had met the applicant two years before her 2019 marriage. He had proposed to her, but she refused. The Mahayuti government has approved a proposal to allocate an approximately 4-acre plot in Sion to the VHP. The land, owned by the BMC, has been allotted to the VHP with the state’s approval. The proposal to allocate the plot—located on Survey No. 12 (part) in the F North Ward of the BMC—was moved under Section 92 (DD) of the BMC Act, 1888. Significantly, the 7,558.33 sqm plot has been granted on an occupancy basis, rather than on lease. Under this provision, the allottee is treated almost as the owner of the land, with full rights of utilisation. The BMC’s proposal was submitted to the Urban Development Department (UDD), headed by Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, in October this year, seeking approval for the allocation. The UDD, while approving on December 4, clarified that the occupancy possession will formally begin on June 25, 2025—the date on which the civic body granted its approval—for a period of 30 years. 4Contd on | nation 4Contd on | nation DGCA goes soft on IndiGo, rolls back FDTL, passengers bear the brunt hold.
