India's population was recorded at 121 crore during the last census, conducted in 2011. India leads globally with an estimated population of 144.17 crore, followed by China at 142.5 crore, according to the report. The report -State of World Population - 2024 report -- "Interwoven Lives, Threads of Hope: Ending Inequalities in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights" said an estimated 24 per cent of India's population is aged 0-14 while 17 per cent is within the 10-19 age range. The segment aged 10-24 is estimated to constitute 26 per cent, with the 15-64 age group making up 68 per cent. Additionally, 7 per cent of India's population is aged 65 years and above, with men having a life expectancy of 71 years and women 74 years. According to the report, the child marriage percentage in India was at 23 between 2006-2023. VOTING FROM 7 AM TILL 6 PM The voting in first phase of Lok Sabha election would be held from 7 am till 6 pm on Friday. Before polling, mock poll will be conducted at 5.30 am. The voting in three assembly seats of Balaghat Lok Sabha seat including Baihar, Lanji and Paraswada would be held from 7 am to 4 pm. In first phase, six Lok Sabha seats including Sidhi, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Chhindwara would go to poll. Electioneering in three assembly constituencies of Balaghat Lok Sabha seat vis Baihar, Lanji and Paraswada concluded at 4 pm. FAKE VOTER CARD SCAM Cyber cops nab mastermind from Champaran OUR STAFF REPORTER city.bhopal@fpj.co.in A cyber crook was arrested from Champaran in Bihar by Bhopal cyber police for preparing fake voter identity card, said the police on Wednesday. He had prepared around 28,000 fake cards. On March 30, office of MP Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) had filed a complaint with cyber police alleging that fake voter IDs were being prepared through an illegal website. ADG cyber security, Yogesh Deshmukh, told Free Press, “Acting on the complaint, cyber police registered a case under IPC sections 419, 420, 467, 468, sections 66 C and 66 D of the IT Act and started investigation. The state cyber team collected evidence, identified the mastermind and arrested him from East Champaran, Bihar in just two weeks.” He further said that the accused was providing the IDs for Rs 20. He not only provided voter card, but also AADHAR and PAN cards, he added ADG said that accused Ranjan Choubey (20) had was Class 10 pass out. He had learnt to prepare the website through YouTube. He purchased sim card from Uttar Pradesh and used two bank accounts -one in nationalised bank and another in private bank. He had prepared credit card from ‘dark web’ and the domain was purchased from a foreign company Using fake profile, he . purchased server space through indirect cloud hoisting. He was using American server and fake email id for communications. The ADG advised people to contact authorised centres and follow protocols set by the government for voter id-cards. 3 ASSAULTED FOR CHANTING ‘SHRI RAM’ BENGALURU: Three men travelling in a car were heckled and assaulted for allegedly raising Jai Shri Ram slogans in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The police have registered a case after a video of the said incident went viral on social media. The incident took place in Chikkabettahalli when three men were travelling in a car holding a flag and chanting Jai Shri Ram slogans on the occasion of Ram Navami. They were intercepted by two bike-borne men who objected to sloganeering. In the video, bikers are seen warning men against raising "Jai Sri Ram" slogans and instead asking them to chant "Allah Hu Akbar." The verbal dispute soon escalated into physical altercation, with bikers and some locals assaulting occupants of car.
