On the night of May 17, an angry mob of locals entered two universities in the capital city, broke the windows of the hostels and targeted foreign nationals, especially Indian and Pakistani nationals. “They attacked foreign students and misbehaved with girls. An acquaintance suffered a broken jaw and a few others sustained minor injuries,” said Fayzan. Following the mob violence, the Indian embassy released a statement that the “situation is presently calm” and advised all students to stay indoors and contact the Mission in case of any problems. However, many Indian students that TNIE had contacted expressed fear as locals were circulating hate messages on TikTok and other social media platforms. “The driver of a taxi I had previously travelled Local mobs are seen attacking foreign nationals at Bishkek on Friday in sent me a video of the mob violence and threatened to beat me as well,” said a student from Uttar Pradesh. While students living in university hostels shared that there were local police and Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) deployed outside the campus, those living in private accommodations do not have the same kind of security . “Students living in flats have been asked to not step out of their accommodations. In case of an emergency they have been , advised to carry their visas and passports,” said a student from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, who did not want to be named. “However, that does not make any difference. The mob does not look into the passports before attacking,” his friend added. The violence, which started following an alleged altercation between the locals and Egyptians on May 13, has led to a series of incidents where foreign nationals have been targeted. It is Modi’s guarantee to work 24/7 for 2047. Keep this in mind while going to vote on May 25 Narendra Modi Modi is giving non-stop interviews to his favourite journalists but he will not have a debate with me because he knows he cannot answer my questions Rahul Gandhi PM mocks depletion of Congress in nat’l capital Seamless alliance with AAP, says Cong leader R A J E S H K U M A R TH A K U R @ New Delhi A s h is h S ri v as ta v a @ New Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday tore into the Congress-AAP alliance in Delhi, saying the world is watching how one corrupt party is covering for another corrupt party The apparent reference was to the slew of . corruption charges hobbling the AAP government led by Arvind Kejriwal in the national capital. In his first rally in Delhi for the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, Modi alleged that the Congress would go to any extent to pursue vote bank politics. He pointed out that during the 2014 elections, the Congress government had handed over 123 properties spread across prime locations in Delhi to the Waqf Board for votes. Describing the Opposition’s INDIA bloc as opportunistic, he recalled how they had held Delhi hostage for months by blocking roads and triggering riots after Parliament passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. Mocking the depletion and degeneration of the Congress, Modi said the party that once ruled the country is no longer in a position contest even in four seats in Delhi. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday hit the campaign trail in the national capital, saying he would press the button for the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal would vote for the Congress in the forthcoming elections. All seven seats of Delhi will go to polls on May 25. In a show of solidarity within the INDIA bloc, Rahul, in his maiden poll rally in Chandni Chowk, sought to remind voters that the AAP is contesting four seats and Congress three as part of the seat-sharing deal. “As Kanhaiya said earlier, ‘Rahul ji will vote for AAP and Kejriwal ji will vote for Congress’,” he said while welcoming party candidate Kanhaiya Kumar on the stage. “We have to come together because BJP leaders have openly said that they will tear the Constitution,” Rahul alleged, urging people to vote for the candidates of the INDIA bloc. Rahul’s vote is in the New Delhi constituency where AAP’s Somnath Bharti is contesting while Kejriwal’s vote is in Chandni Chowk where Congress candidate J P Agarwal is in the fray .
