Sri Rudram or Sat Rudriyam or Rudrodhyayam or Rudropanishad , by any of these names you may know it are the Vedic verses or Mantras of KRISHNA YAJURVEDA and treasured in the fifth chapter of fourth canto of Taittiriya Samhita .Here approx.300 names of Parmeshwar who pervades in all small or huge ,poor or rich, significant or frivolous , animate or inanimate beings or objects are rhythmically woven with repetition of NAMAH –NAMAH( नमःनमः) . That is why; this is also called Namakam(नमकम्). Similarly in the seventh chapter of the same canto, the word CHAME (चमे), meaning –“and for me” is occurring in repetition. For that reason, this chapter is known as Chamkam (चमकम्).The mantras in this chapter bestow upon the devotee the blissful and wonderful objects of this world and of the other world which are beyond your contemplation. WHY SRI RUDRAM - Rudram is essence of all Vedas. This whole universe is expansion of HIS universal consciousness .It is like a PARAS stone, like a CHINTA MANI and like a KAMDHENU which fulfilsyour all wishes and eradicate all your worries and ills. SMRITI says that Rudram is greater than Brahmlok and according to VEDVYAS; He is greater among allDevta’s. PURAN saysif a single person recites RUDRAM with full faith and devotion, then all the persons residing in that village become free from diseases,poverty,famine, troubles and fear of theft .It imparts happiness,bliss, worldly pleasures and enjoyments (BHUKTI) and liberation from all bondages (MUKTI).
