Musk said the company got more than 250,000 orders, giving the wags on Twitter plenty of fodder, including this: “Tesla launches the most successful Kickstarter ever.” Meanwhile, more traditional car companies, notably the 100-yearold BMW, are gearing up to meet a future that is likely to focus on nonpolluting engines and driverless cars.
