Highlights of Harper’s Bazaar India March 2022, issue:

Bazaar India celebrates its 13th anniversary this month with the biggest stars of the country coming together to mark our very special theme, FABULOUS AT EVERY AGE. On the cover, global superstar Deepika Padukone looks ravishing as she dons the most stylish outfits of the season. And in a candid conversation, she opens up about her childhood, marriage with actor Ranveer Singh, the importance of authenticity, and her evolved definition of what success truly means to her. Along with her, actor Siddhant Chaturvedi charts his rise to fame—from standing in queues and being without work for years to turning into an overnight sensation, and how he deals with it with humility and hard work.

India’s eternal silver screen enchantress, the 54-year-old Madhuri Dixit Nene also opens up like never before, on Bazaar India’s Digital Cover. The actor with a million-watt smile shares her views on ageism and ’90s fashion, her life as a mother, the values that her father taught her as a young girl, and what her hopes are for the future of women in cinema, along with her favourite beauty tricks…an icon in every sense of the word.

Yesteryear superstar Asha Parekh—who was once the highest-paid female actor of her time—is as graceful as ever on the Bazaar India Digital Cover. At 79, Asha has learnt many lessons about life, relationships, and self-love, and in a truly special conversation, she shares her wisdom with absolute poise.

But wisdom isn’t lost on the youth, as young actors in their 20s—Tanya Maniktala (from A Suitable Boy) and Mrunal Thakur (from Batla House) reveal. Through a joyous photo essay of them jumping against blue skies, the two share their greatest lessons of honouring themselves and giving back to society—be that through meditation, for Tanya, or appreciating the small things and speaking up for young women via social media, for Mrunal.

The 13th anniversary issue of Bazaar India challenges beauty norms with new zeal, through a unique photo feature with actor Sobhita Dhulipala who dresses up as Mexican artist Frida Kahlo—complete with the moustache and unibrow. In a conversation with Bazaar India, Sobhita emphasises on why it’s important for her not to live a “second-hand life” and to embrace herself, which includes the beautiful constellation of moles on her face.

And finally, actor Konkona Sen Sharma—whose work has been recognised as one of India’s 80 Iconic Performances—questions social mores for women with her outspoken conversation about gender as a learnt concept, marriage and cohabitation, and most importantly, being a freethinker.

In another special feature, three young artists turn themselves into works of art, as they adorn themselves with flowers and plants—an analogy to how they themselves have blossomed. And through their work, they reveal how they are creating change in society such as drawing attention to the cultural taboos on menstruation  or highlighting the need to care for Mother Nature.

And in an important feature, 13 Bazaar India contributors share how their perception of beauty has changed since their youth to today, foregrounding the essential truth that each one of us is FABULOUS AT EVERY AGE.

Along with these special Digital Covers, the 13th anniversary issue of Bazaar India spotlights the freshest styles to wear this season, inspiration on how to tackle Imposter Syndrome by India’s leading female bosses and therapists, and a dip into the art and culture of the country. It’s a celebration, alright, and you are invited to it!

Highlights of Harper’s Bazaar India April 2016, issue: The April issue of Harper's Bazaar India is dedicated this issue to journeys of all kinds. Take our cover stars, for instance. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor have both traversed afar in their careers, and in Ki & Ka, explore unconventional roles: She’s a career woman and he’s a house husband. Then there’s Gossip lead singer Beth Ditto, who has become an icon of punk style. She has designed a fashion line for big girls that’s already making waves. You’ll also meet author Polly Vernon, whose new book, Hot Feminist, is being talked about everywhere, and should be on your holiday reading list. In beauty, there are expert tips on how to look glowing and fresh straight off a plane, and the best makeup crayons you need to pack. In features, there are the books that have made the journey from being social media successes to legit literature. Then there is the next big food revolution that’s taking over the culinary world: Cooking with trash. We’ve also got the definitive guide to the world’s best hotels, and some of the most mouth-watering food trails you could follow (thank us later). In fashion, we celebrate the power of film with Cinema Cinema, a photo feature dedicated to iconic movies set in destinations like Venice and Egypt. Chanel’s pre-Fall 2016 show that took place at Rome’s iconic Cinecittà (founded in ‘37 by Mussolini, no less) in December last year showed us how inspirational a culture can be. We also travel to Thailand where summer’s hottest hue, orange, blends in beautifully with the country’s russet-robed monks and crumbling brick temples. In the end, a journey is more in the mind than on the road, and we invite you to take this one with us, page by page.
