Highlights | India Today Hindi – 14 January 2026
50th Anniversary Special
1975–85 | Krantikari Badlav Ke Varsh
India Today’s first decade unfolded amid tyranny, tragedy and turbulence, shaped by a dominant political personality who ruled for nearly sixteen years. It was a time of resilience and transformation, marked by both achievement and excess, reminding readers that no leader can permanently command India’s destiny.
1985–95 | Uthal Puthal Aur Badlav Ka Daur
Beginning with the Emergency’s aftermath and ending in assassination and massacre, this decade was scarred by trauma. Yet its churn reshaped India’s political and social foundations. The Mandal and Mandir movements altered the genetic code of Indian polity, giving form to a new century. These were years when decades felt like centuries.
1995–2005 | Virat Manthan Ka Daur
Liberalisation brought speed, aspiration and abundance—expressways, digital connectivity and consumer choice. Yet conflict persisted. Nuclear tests, border tensions, riots and terror attacks unsettled the nation. Political instability prevailed, but beneath the chaos lay the creative ferment of a new India taking shape.
2005–15 | Josh Aur Akrosh
A decade of sharp contrasts—growth and drift, empowerment and anger. Rights-based welfare reforms expanded citizenship, while the 2008 global financial crisis, terror attacks, Maoist violence and corruption scandals eroded trust. Mass protests reshaped politics, giving rise to AAP. Tougher laws for women followed public outrage, though justice lagged social change.
2015–25 | Ek Mukhar Bharat
Under Narendra Modi, India saw stability and decisive governance. From Article 370’s abrogation and cross-border strikes to economic reforms like demonetisation and GST, India projected assertiveness at home and abroad. The consolidation of Hindutva politics culminated in the Ram Temple at Ayodhya, ending a century-old dispute.
