Highlights of India Today Malayalam issue dated February 19th, 2014. The issue had the cover story on the fast by K. K. Rema, wife of slain RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan. Rema and RMP allege that high-level CPI(M) leaders are involved in the case. The fast was remarkable for the support it received from intelligentia and common people alike. The recent recusal of high court judges from hearing the CBI petition filed against Pinarayi Vijayan in the Lavlin case was another important story, with the comments of HC chief justice Manjula Chellur, an interview of renowned judge K T Thomas and Advt. Kaleeswaram Raj. The dimming prospects of Congress in reclaiming the rule in the centre, thanks to its internal anarchy, was examined in another major story. Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitaa's dreams of primeministership as she joins hands with CPI(M) and CPI and thus to the much awaited third front and her challenged ahead are also discussed. The existential predicament of north-east Indians in Delhi and elsewhere was studied in a story, set in the backdrop of the murder of Nido Tania, a 19-year-old boy in Delhi. How privatization bids ruin the ecologically fragile Thekkady is explored in a story on Periyar Tiger Reserve. Another attraction of the package was a feature on new entries in the automobile field, in the background of Delhi auto show.
