Highlights of India Today Malayalam issue dated December 4th, 2013. The issue featured a cover story on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's south India aspirations and the threats and challenges he faces down south. The big story of the issue was one about the snoopgate controversy which dogs Narendra Modi now. The story had extracts of the telephone conversation between Girish L Singhal, senior police officer and the then home minister for state Amit Shah. The tapes reveal how them, on directions from a "Saheb" tried to zero on the life of an architect, Madhuri Soni. Another big story was on Peruvannamoozhi sex scandal case in Kozhikode, Kerala, in which sex rackets operated in schools to trap teens one of whom commited suicide while another one escaped from a suicide bid. It had a column on the issue by Dr. Muse Mary George, noted writer and social analyst. The exclusive story on the proposed Aranmula airport in Pathanamthitta district, which recently received environmental clearance from Ministry for Forest and Environment revealed that the agency which conducted environmental study on the ecologically sensitive land has now does not have the permission to perform the same for airport projects. A special report on Nigerian drug mafia and a guest column by Bruce Riedel on Pakistan's failure to nab the accused of 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks were other important stories. A profile of N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and his plans for a safe political future were also featured. The auto column featured TVS Jupiter, Mahindra Mojo and Mahindra Bolero. The recent world chess championship which witnessed the rise of Magnus Carlsen as the world champion and Viswanathan Anand's misfiring was featured in a sports story, which focussed on the difference of their generations.
