Dear Readers,
Here’s wishing all of you a happy Dussehra and prosperous Diwali!
The onset of autumn is marked by a slight nip in the air. It brings about the festive buzz that sets the mood for the year. October is filled with a festive feeling for Indians, with the two major festivals being celebrated during this month.
The symbolism of both the festivals — the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, hope over despair — continues to resonate, and seems particularly salient in the last couple of years. Overall, festivities in India have all the charm, grandeur and splendour that illuminate our minds and hearts, while promoting much-needed peace, harmony, and brotherhood in society. Turn to our Feature Story, which commemorates the festival of the triumph of light over darkness, where a few people from around the country reveal how they have planned two of India’s biggest festivals and the rituals that make them so special.
To make the festive season even more joyous, we have the stunning actress Mrunal Thakur on the cover. A talented actress who swiftly migrated from TV shows to big movies, Mrunal starred in Toofaan and Dhamaka in 2021; acted in Jersey, the following year; and made her Telugu film debut with Sita Ramam recently. Since the festival celebrates light, love, positivity and happiness, and Mrunal practices these values in her everyday life. In this issue, she talks about her journey, goals, and fashion in our Cover Story.
We also have an exclusive interview with Italian brand strategist, Giulia, in People in Focus. A young jewellery designer, who spent a considerable time in Jaipur and travels between New York and the Pink City, will soon launch her food-tech startup. Also, read our special interview where Gem Palace jewellery heir Shalini Kasliwal talks to us about her businesses, future plans, and how her dual heritage has influenced her life’s work. Known for making jewellery for Jaipur’s Maharajas, international royalty, and Hollywood’s crème de la crème, Shalini is determined to honour, while future-proofing the jewellery brand for this generation.
Do make sure you also read our Special Feature where we look back at the personal and historical significance of some extraordinary and priceless pieces of jewellery worn and loved by Queen Elizabeth II.
