As humans, we have shown perseverance and strength throughout difficult times; it is one of our basic instincts to overcome hardships and difficulties. And this is clearly demonstrated in many religious festivals, especially Akshaya Tritiya and Eid-al Fitr, the two festivals falling on the same day this year.
Although they entail different rituals and practices, both festivals celebrate the strength and courage of human beings. While Akshaya Tritiya is an annual springtime festival celebrated by Hindu and Jain communities, billions of Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid al-Fitr after participating in prayer, self-control and abstaining from food and drinks throughout the holy month of Ramadan. Check out the Feature Story this week, where we talk to 12 ladies about their celebration of the two holidays. Dressed in exquisite outfits and ornaments, their jewellery pieces make gold even more lustrous and beautiful than it already is!
On the cover, we have the elegant Anushka Ranjan in her ethnic splendour. Always making heads turn with her well-maintained figure and striking features, this stunner nails every look she goes for – Western or Indian. Check out the Cover Story to find out more about her life during the lockdown and her future projects!
One of the most basic ways you can reduce waste as an individual is participating in the secondhand market, but most people don’t realize that thrifting goes far beyond your local Goodwill store. Some living in isolated areas may not even have access to these brick-and-mortar stores, and others don’t want to step put during a pandemic! Thanks to Trisha Reddy of ThriftChicByTrish, the online thrift store is flourishing in the city with high-quality items that surpass what you’d find at your average store. Read our People in Focus to know more!
Across India, fasting is generally linked with religious beliefs, and people fast before or during traditional rituals. On the other hand, fasting also has many health benefits and some pitfalls too.
