Dear Readers,
Our Feature Story this week is about one of the world’s most exciting and interesting sports – horse racing! One of the world’s biggest gambling sports, horse racing is avidly followed by race-lovers, professional gamblers, multi-millionaires, and recreational punters alike. Some of the biggest events in the thoroughbred racing world are spread over several days, attracting royals, top celebrities and racing aficionados.
Although the sport is loved worldwide, many of us only enjoy races in the country we reside in. On the other hand, there are some enthusiasts who’ll do whatever it takes to travel around the world and enjoy the best in the sport. So the question is: Where are the biggest races held? This week, we’ll answer that and more, as we look at the history and traditions of horse racing, highlight some famous jockeys, groomers, and trainers from the city, their favourite international horse racing events, and much more.
On the Cover is the dashing Mustafa Burmawala, son of noted filmmaker Abbas–from the director duo of Abbas-Mustan, who spoke to us about life and his career. We were bowled over by his charming, genuine nature, and we are sure you will enjoy reading the Cover Story.
In our People in Focus this week, we speak to Krishna Das, who is associated with the construction business since 1990. Born and raised in Hyderabad, Das’s also been active in the happenings of Secunderabad Club and Hyderabad Polo and Riding Club. So much so that he served as the president for two consecutive terms in the former and became the director/steward at the latter.
If you’re looking for a non-traditional way to strengthen your core, horseback riding may be just the exercise you need. Turn to Mind & Body where we tell you how interacting with animals is highly therapeutic, and the physical demands of equestrianism are great for your body. Grand Getaways has young Shambhavi Sanghi Shetty’s lovely trip to Europe, where she visited Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Malta–that was quite a learning experience.
And tell us what you think. If you have any suggestions, comments or queries, please e-mail me at publisher@you-and-i.com.
