As part of the 39 amendments to the finance bill that got passed in the Lok Sabha on march 25, the centre government has made an explicit clarification that losses incurred on the sale of one virtual digital asset—in this case, trade in crypto—won’t be allowed to be set off against gains made on another. This means crypto investors will have to pay a 30 per cent tax for every gain they make.
