Apparel’s November 2019 issue is a potpourri of ideas and inspirations. To begin with, the issue carries a report on Rahul Mehta passing on CMAI’s presidentship to Rakesh Biyani. This is followed by a report on CMAI’s 56th Annual General Meeting. The issue also lends insights into a seminar that was organised in Pune by CMAI’s Western Region.

In the ‘Feature’ section, we take a look at the current market trends of the Indian kids’-wear industry; how dupattas are once again becoming mainstream choice of clothing; a few significant developments that have taken shape in the apparel industry; the importance of reputation management for global brands; and an overview of some of the many handloom towns and cities present in India.

Under the ‘Designer Spotlight’ section, we profile three unique personalities—Khyati Pande of Itr by Khyati Pande; Anjul Bhandari, who specialises in chikankari; and Jyoti Reddy, who champions the use of eri silk through her label Ereena. In ‘New Avenues’, we evaluate the rise of social media influencers and the role they play in today’s fashion landscape. Under ‘Fabric Speak’, we write about the intricacies of two highly coveted fabrics, including muslin and silk. The ‘Brand Profile’ section features Born, a luxury label offering organic clothing for kids. Under ‘Industry Insights’, we look at the successes and failures of the textile policies that have been recently formulated by a few Indian states; there is also an article that talks about piracy in apparel, and how to combat it. Under ‘Fashion Speak’, we lend insights into the Spring Summer 2020 edit of Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week.

The ‘Regulars’ segment consists of the important news and events, talked-about brands, trending collections, as well as forthcoming events in the world of apparel.

Apparel, the monthly official trade magazine of the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI)—one of the largest apparel and garments bodies in the country—gives you the latest news and events specific to this industry, while delving deeper into issues plaguing it, new technologies adopted and the people who make things happen. The magazine regularly carries articles by industry experts, interviews with the who’s who of the industry, many of whom are members of the CMAI, and features upcoming and established brands and their latest collections. Apparel also exclusively covers any event hosted, organised or supported by the CMAI, including the bi-annual National Garment Fair, which is one of the largest apparel trade fairs in the sub-continent...
