Hello Readers,

Do you know India has 5 different Martyr’s Day? A Martyr is a person who laid down his/her life in the service of his/her country. The birthday of Rani Lakshmi Bai, 19th November 1828, is celebrated as the Martyr’s Day in the state of Uttar Pradesh. She was the queen of Maratha-ruled princely state of Jhansi. This day also honours all the ‘veer senani’ who fought the East India company in the ‘rebellion of 1857’ of which she was a prominent figure. Will keep informing you of the other Martyr’s Day as and when they fall.

Today is also World’s Toilet Day. This day was founded in 2001 and was integrated as an official UN day in 2012. It focuses on raising awareness about public sanitation and aims to end open defecation in the world. UN-Water manages the website of this day and creates special themes for each year. This year’s theme is ‘Leave No One Behind’.

Coming on to a very exciting day! Did you know it was Mickey Mouse’s birthday on 18th November? Our beloved little mouse turned 90 yesterday. 90 years! Do you what this means? It means that Mickey Mouse has been bringing smile to people’s faces since our grandparents (or your great-grandparents) were children. Here’s wishing Mickey Mouse infinity more years of spreading giggles and fun.
